POTATOES.
It really all came together with potatoes.
After being friends for a year, Matt jumped the gun in 2024 and asked Minnow out after staying up all night chatting at Winterfound, the farm he’s lived at and grown for the last several years. Minnow, still in the midst of an on-again-off-again relationship, wasn’t feeling it. The timing just wasn’t right.
Fast forward another year, and Minnow and Matt (safely in the friend zone) came up with a plan to help Matt get his potatoes harvested. They would throw a potato party, and invite our friends to come dig potatoes.
After harvesting all the potatoes, we would eat french fries (fried in tallow from Matt’s beef), baked potatoes (topped with bacon from Matt’s pigs), mashed potatoes, hash browns, and any other format for potatoes people could think of.
The party was a big hit, and at the end of the night, as the clean up finally finished, Matt and Minnow sat around the fire, reveling in the joy of the day.
They couldn’t stop chatting, and that night, something shifted. Minnow saw Matt in another light: more than a friend, there was a deep connection - and maybe more.
After that night, they were off to the races. They could not stop talking, and could not get enough of each other.
AND HERE WE ARE!
Not yet a year later, these two are in the midst of building the life of their dreams. With 75 acres of gorgeous land they’ve just purchased and a 1749 house being moved from New Hampshire, not to mention a house in New York that Minnow’s been fixing up to sell to fund the above project, they’ve got their hands full. They are looking forward with great excitement to moving in together - first with Minnow’s sister, Jamaica, while their house is being (re)built and expanded, and then finally settling in to their very own farm.
